Medical Corporation Heishinkai

Medical Corporation Heishinkai consists of clinical trial specialist sites OPHAC Hospital, OCROM Clinic, and ToCROM Clinic.
OPHAC Hospital is the first hospital specializing in clinical trials in Japan established in November 2005. The hospital inherited the know-how and expertise gained through over 1000 clinical trials conducted by Osaka Pharmacology Research Clinic, which was the pioneer Phase I study site established in August 1983 and closed in March 2006. OPHAC Hospital became incorporated into Medical Corporation Heishinkai in January 2006.
OCROM Clinic was established in July 1999 (former name Osaka Clinical Research of Medicaments Clinic ) as Japan’s first facility specializing in outpatient clinical trials. Osaka Clinical Research of Medicaments Clinic became incorporated into Medical Corporation Heishinkai in January 2006 and renamed to Medical Corporation Heishinkai OCROM Clinic in July 2007.
ToCROM Clinic was established in June 2000 (former name Tokyo Clinical Research of Medicaments Clinic ) as a clinical trial facility as well as general practice. The clinic became incorporated into Heishinkai Medical Corporation in May 2011 and renamed to Medical Corporation Heishinkai ToCROM Clinic.

Heishinkai Facilities

The following is an introduction of the Heishinkai study sites: OPHAC Hospital, OCROM Clinic and ToCROM Clinic, including their highlights, directory and equipment.
All 3 sites are specialized in clinical trials with a combined capacity of 300 outpatients and 84 inpatients per day. They are equipped with client-friendly facilities such as SDV rooms and various systems including the investigational drug temperature control and security systems.

Clinical trials are conducted at Heishinkai experienced and well-equipped study sites managed by physicians, nurses and other medical staff with extensive industry experience and know-how.
We are proficient in conducting many types of clinical trials, even the complicated and rare types that many or most other sites are not able to.

Medical Corporation Heishinkai OPHAC Hospital


Established in November 2005, OPHAC Hospital is the first hospital specializing in clinical trials in Japan. It is conveniently located in metro Osaka, a 5-minute walk from JR Shin Osaka Station. It has 53 beds and is capable of conducting clinical trials of all phases and types from Phase I healthy volunteer studies, Phase II and III patient studies, through to Phase IV studies.

Medical Corporation Heishinkai OCROM Clinic


Established in Suita-city, Osaka in 1999, OCROM Clinic is the first clinic specializing in outpatient clinical trials in Japan.
In April 2006, the clinic was converted into a 19-bed clinic at the same time when it inherited Osaka Clinical Pharmacology Clinic, a Phase I site with over 20 years of history. Since then, in addition to outpatient trials, OCROM Clinic is also capable of conducting inpatient PK/PD trials and Phase I trials in healthy subjects.

Medical Corporation Heishinkai ToCROM Clinic


Established in June 2022, ToCROM Clinic is a clinical trial facility as well as general practice. With its relocation in 2017, it has now been a 12-bed clinic also capable of conducting inpatient PK/PD trials. Globalization in Japan has led to an increase in inbound global clinical trials. ToCROM is one of the few study sites in Japan that can conduct global trials, and has conducted many trials in lifestyle-related diseases.
